Colourful, characterful, charming Windmill Hill. Although, there is no evidence of a Windmill actually ever existing on Windmill Hill! The area was built in the late 1880’s to house the booming (and overflowing) Bedminster population, which was mainly down to the opening of two major factories of the time – E.S & A Robinsons paper bag manufacturers and W.D & H.O Wills tobacco, now the trendy ‘Robinsons Building’ development, and the site of the Asda supermarket. The average house price in the Windmill Hill area would be between £200,000 and £320,000.
It’s easily defined on a map by its clear borders – St. Johns Lane, Victoria Park, and the Bedminster railway line. It’s the community spirit and creative vibe that people fall in love with here. Add that to the great views North over the city and southwards over to Knowle, Bristol’s most delightful park on your doorstep, its attractive terraces, proximity to the city centre, the easy access to amenity hot spots such as the Bedminster high streets and the Totterdown offering…. Do we need to go on?!
